 Much ado about nothing!

Nitesh's resignation and forming govt with outside support of bjp seems to disturb many so called democrats of the country.my fervent appeal to them is not to get agitated and take it with a pinch of salt.no political party in the country is formed to do social service but to grab POWER by hook or by crook.voter is a means to attain that end.voter is never bothered as long as a stable govt is thete, corrupt or otherwise.bjp is no exception to this.wisdom lies in accepting whatever that happens without loosing ones peace of mind.our experience since first general elections is a testimony to it.now TV channels will have a field day and rti activists will create enough work for the legal luminaries,.

 Some Reflections.

Apropos the fb post "Education is Strategic",let me recall that visionary prime ministers ,Nehru  and  Rajiv Gandh, in the past ,without their partys concurrence or appreciation of their vision,

inspired by     by the western countries progress and ignited by socialistic and welfare outlook.(,Nehru) steadfastly pursued establishing higher educational institutions such as iits ,national resarch labs etc that would make India self sufficient and compete with advanced countries and Rajiv Gandhi goaded us to be tech-savy and introduced learning through computers.in this effort ,Congress party remained sceptical except pv narasimharao as  HRD minister, who gave a shape to Rajivs vision through National Education Policy in 1986.Tenures of the remaining prime ministers of India was plateful of vote-bank and caste based and religion based divisive politics and attempts to stick to power by hook or crook, without any VISION.They have also shamelessly brought the system to a stage of ineffectiveness and corrupted the establishment.Even if we may have a visionary PM now or in future,I doubt if he will be allowed by  the establishment to translate his vision ,as  happened to Rajiv, as politics and politicians of the day have become MURKIER .!!!!!!!

 Ramdas k Dange

The sad demise of Dangesaheb today at PARBHANI left me without a friend, philosopher and guide.I worked with him when he was Principal of Shivaji College Parbhani (marathwada) from 1963-1975.He was A scholar in marathi .His interpretations Of Saint-Poet Jnaneswars poetry won him GOLD MEDAL in his MA exams from Nagpur Univ. His essays from his answers in his exams were included in the texts of univ courses.Though a staunch Janasanghi,he had the patience to listen to differing views.the college had a golden period during his tenure with many cultural,co-curricular and xtra curricular activities in addtion to enviable academic achievements. He was an xcellent organiser. His active role in organising marathwada vikas andolan is still green in my memory. It is another matter that he was sacked from principalship in 1975.he was an xcellent human being,an AJATHA SETRU.I miss him as under his mentorship my personality was developed.I owe it to him for all the successes i achieved in my career.MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE!

 Lest we forget!

Sometime back,we found satyam computers winning international BEST GOvErnance and several other awards periodically and remained a blue eyed boy of the then CM cbnaidu   that enabled lokesh  Naidu to pursue higher studies in USA .But ,in the end satyam ramalingaraju was jailed and the company was sold to mahindratech, making a mockery of all the awards won by satyam computers.

Now,cbnaidus rule fetched too many awards, and his governance was found to be corrupt and he was voted out.

If jagan succeeds in discovering impeccable evidence of cbns misrule and corruption,(cbn has been a smart operator in his dubious acts), then cbn will taste the fate of satyam computers Raju.

అప్పుడూ..ఇప్పుడూ*

 Jaganraj

Continuous set backs for many decisions taken by the present govt of AP are either stayed or nullified by the high court of AP.

One can't blame anyone except those who were vested with the powers and responsibilities to guide the govt in taking legally consistent decisions.

It looks as if many of the concerned officials have identified themselves with the whims of the ruling party, throwing all caution to winds.

It is high time the long list of advisers and the officials resist defective decisions and force the ruling elite to see reason than making a scandalous mockery of sensible governance.

It is a dissappointment for many who had high hopes on the dynamic, people friendly  young chief minister of the day!

Thank u DNR for keepingthis photo my regret is I couldnot do much for him except to get him nomimated as an exofficio expert on the board of studies of mathematics and statistics of marathwada university aurangabad

I met him thrice in his koli at nasik temple he showed me his publications and research papers by others across the globe on his results on hershad number dilshad numbers, demlo numbers I came acrosshis name in an article in scientific American by martin gardiner on KAPREKARS CONSTANT 6174.

I was intrested in him and enquired about him from prof. Narshimham, prof. Srinivasan of TIFR bombay I also coresponded with prof

Yates of USA

I was mad to do research on kapraker's work so that he would get due recognition in the galaxy of mathematicians.

Having collected the research papers published till then in international journals and kaprekars own publications .I joined Andhra University as a FIP Phd scholar when I expressed my desire to do research on kaprekar they found me to be a maverick .I had to reluctently investigate PERFECT TOTIENT NUMBERS and quit research after getting M.phil subsequently I wrote to all and sundry in the acedamic world  requesting them to award kapreker honorarry degree that would have made kapreker happy

Kapreker was just a matriculate and served as a elementary school teacher but his memory remains forever beacause of 6174 and the susequent research done by many.

I remain dis satisfied disgruntled and disappointed that karpreker a true aam admi without shaukeen qualifications could not get due recognition across the country my failure to do anything tangible has been my greatest frusration. MAY THE MEMORY OF DATTATREYA RAMRAO KAPREKAR LiVE FoREVER.

 A Feast of Vultures

Reading Josy Joseph's above book reminded me of AGNoorani's ministers misconduct, forty years back ,detailing how Kairon of Punjab, biju patnaik of odisha,et al tweaked the rules during their rule to develop their states as  a facade to build their finances.

This book mostly dealt with the murder of wahid of east west airlines, unusual rise of goyal of jet airways and the acts of omission and commission of the successive ministries of civil aviationi.

"....in the face of powerful politician-businessman Nexus,it would be yet another Indian miracle if democracy survives and flourishes ." Is a telling observation.

Industrialists becoming members of parliament and occupying parliamentary  committess on subjects of their business interests, etc make the democratic governance a mockery

One has to agree with mallyas following poem

"A Nation that prides itself in Modern self-sufficiency Is it real for FEW -and a dream for ALL?"

PLAGIARISM!    ....Dept of education of govt of Andhra Pradesh recently prepared an attractive handbook ,SKILL GENIE, for the students of tenth class, intermediate and degree classes. It is found that that was Copy Paste from various websites ,lock, stock and barrel with NOT A SINGLE SENTENCE  in original.IT seems it was authored by govt college lecturers who were all Ph.D holders. What a pity!I am afraid the Ph D holders might have got their degrees similarly through copy paste and plagiarism!!!!!

 PERFIDY

It is a sad day that 42 jawans are martyred for no fault. As usual, the TV channels, will conduct debates ,outline the possible actions India can take, leaders of all parties will condemn the act and demand stern action.Ruling party leaders will assure us that a fitting reply will be given and no further terror acts will be tolerated and if necessary, Surgical strikes cannot be ruled out as if it is a talisman for all ills! After a few days, everything will be forgotten.

The govt shows alertness  only when the terrorists attack us.that euphoria lasts for few days.

Kashmir issue has only a political solution .no amount of brave talk for blaming a community or Pakistan for that matter can help solve the issue.

Namo ,must concentrate and focus on solving this issue instead of getting up from slumber after every terrorist attack and proclaim that a fitting reply would be given.

An all party meeting that includes other Kashmir outfits agitating for freedom be called immediately and an amicable solution is ironed out.

More than the impending general elections, solving Kashmir issue is more important to avoid further bloodshed of our jawans.

Jammu be made a seperate state of India and conduct plebescite for kashmir.let them decide whether they want to be with us or not.

India can't afford to sustain this problem any longer.

Why is the collector not wearing makeup...?

Malappuram District Collector  Smt. Rani Soyamoi interacts with  College students.

 ............................................

She wore no jewelry other than a wristwatch.

What surprised most of the children was that she did not even use face powder.

The speech is in English.  She spoke for only a minute or two, but her words were full of determination.

The children then asked the collector some questions.

 Q: What's your name?

My name is Rani.  Soyamoi is my family name.  I am a native of Jharkhand.

 Anything else to ask ?.

A slender girl stood up from the audience.

 Ask, child.

"Madame, why don't you use any makeup on your face?"

The collector's face suddenly turned pale.  Sweat broke out on her thin forehead.  The smile on her face faded.  The audience suddenly became silent.

She opened the water bottle on the table and drank a little.  Then she gestured to the  child to sit .  Then she began to speak slowly.

The child asked a confusing question.  It is something that can never be answered in a single word.  I have to tell you my life story in answer.  Let me know if you are willing to set aside your precious ten minutes for my story.

 Ready ...

I was born in a tribal area of Jharkhand.

The collector paused and looked at the audience.

I was born in a small hut in the tribal area of Koderma district, full of "mica" mines.

My father and mother were miners.  I had two brothers above and a sister below.  We lived in a small hut that leaked when it rained.

My parents worked in the mines for meager wages because they could not find another job.  It was a very messy job.

When I was four years old, my father, mother and two brothers were bedridden with various ailments.

Little did they know at the time that the disease was caused by inhaling the deadly mica dust in the mines.

When I was five, my brothers died of an illness.

With a small sigh the collector stopped talking and closed her eyes filled with tears.

Most days our diet consisted of  water and one or two loaves of bread.  Both my brothers left this world due to acute illness and starvation.  In my village, there were no people who went to the doctor or to school.  Can you imagine a village without a school, a hospital or even a toilet? Even without electricity?  .

One day when I was hungry, my father grabbed me, all skin and bones and dragged me to a large mine covered with corrugated iron sheets.

It was a mica mine that had gained notoriety over time.

It is an ancient mine that was dug up and dug into the underworld.  My job was to crawl through the tiny caves at the bottom and collect mica ores.  It was only possible for children under the age of ten.

For the first time in my life, I ate bread and had a full stomach.  But that day I vomited.

By the time I was in first grade, I was sniffing mica through the dark rooms where I could breathe poisonous dust.

It was not uncommon for unfortunate children to die in occasional landslides.  And occasionally some with fatal diseases.

If you work eight hours a day, you will earn at least one loaf of bread.  I was thin and dehydrated every day because of hunger and starvation.

A year later my sister also started going to work in the mine.  As soon as I got a little better, my father, mother, sister and I worked together and came to a point where we could live without hunger.

But fate was beginning to haunt us in another form.  One day when I was not going to work due to high fever, it suddenly rained.  Hundreds of people died when the mine collapsed in front of workers at the base of the mine.  Among them were my father, mother and sister.

Tears began to flow through both eyes of the collector .  Everyone in the audience forgot to even breathe.  The eyes of many were filled with tears.

I have to remember that I was only six years old.

Eventually I arrived at the Government Agati Mandir.  There I was educated.  I was the first from my village to learn the alphabet.  Finally here is the collector in front of you.

You may be wondering what the connection is between this and the fact that I do not use makeup.

She continued, glancing through the audience.

It was then that I realized that the whole mica I had collected while crawling through the darkness those days was being used on makeup products.

Mica is the first type of flourescent silicate mineral.

Among the mineral makeups offered by many big cosmetic companies, the most colorful are the multi-colored mica that make your skin glow with the lives of 20,000 young children at the risk of their own lives.

The softness of the rose spreads on your cheeks with their charred dreams, their shattered lives and their flesh and blood crushed among the rocks.

Millions of dollars worth of mica are still picked up by baby hands from mines.  To enhance our beauty.

 Now you tell me.

How do I apply makeup on my face ?.  How can I eat on a full stomach in memory of my brothers who died of starvation?  How can I wear expensive silk dresses in the memory of my mother who always wore torn clothes  ?.

The whole audience stood up unknowingly as she walked out, holding her head up without opening her mouth, filled with a small smile.  The make-up on their faces was starting to soak in the hot tears that were dripping from their eyes.

 .............................................

Don't blame them if some of them are disgusted when they see women full of face powder, cream, lipstick .

(The highest quality mica is still mined in Jharkhand. More than 20,000 young children work there without going to school. Some are buried by landslides and some by disease.)
